Kandra Sellers, RDH, BA is considered one of the most passionate and successful coaches any dental practice could partner with. With over 25 years in the dental industry, Kandra has had many career roles: dental hygienist, coach, educator, and speaker. She fell in love with coaching as a successful executive coach for the nation’s largest dental management company.
In 2019 Kandra started her business focusing on oral systemic health. Her goal for Pristine Interprofessional Academy was to improve the standard of care that dental patients receive by bringing collaboration between medical and dental practices. Coaching dentists, hygienists and office staff brings them to the next level where the industry is headed. Her company trains dental practices how to bill services that are more medical in nature to medical insurance, decreasing patients out of pocket expenses when not covered by dental insurance. This provides tremendous benefits for the patient while increasing revenue to the dental practice.
Pristine’s mission is to unite oral systemic professionals to create a collaborative environment, changing how medical and dental practices align to enhance and save patient’s lives.
Score mentor Mike Petersen has been instrumental to Kandra’s business. “Mike has kept me on task, sharing his insight about business practices that I was not aware of as a new business owner. Mike has challenged me to think outside my bubble. Mike has listened to the webinars I have given, reviewed my PPT and given much needed constructive feedback. Mike has been an invaluable asset, monitor and coach over the last couple years and I cannot wait to see what 2021 will bring for my business and my personal growth!”
- Early on Kandra realized the importance of gaining creditability for her new company by partnering with the leading expert in medical billing and digital dentistry, Dr. Chris Farrugia. This has led to numerous speaking engagements for Kandra at events such as AAOSH, CariFree, Beyond Oral Health, and private groups and meetings all over the US.
- The medical billing segment of her business has become so successful that Kandra pivoted spending almost all her time on this area. Initially, her plan was to coach dental practices so they could do their own billing. She found that’s not practical for some small practices, so Pristine/TIPS was launched to do the billing for them, building a business within her coaching business. She now has one employee performing the billing transaction and will be hiring a second employee to handle the increasing volume.
- Pristine/TIPS’s revenue for 2020 is up over 50% and has signed up multiple new clients, even through the challenging pandemic environment.
Kandra says “Score has so many great connections and live webinars offering an array of topics that help support a business owner. It really is quite a remarkable organization to be involved in. Thank you, Score, for sharing amazing like-minded people with me to make me the best version of me I can be!”
